damn me (goretex pro Q)

So I was suspect but did it anyway. Live and learn I suppose. Basically did a little too much glissading on my pretty new Berghaus pro shell pants. |

I'm not sure those even need a repair if there are no holes all the way through. You probably lost any DWR coating but the actual waterproof coating is on the inside. |

Kyle Nicolls wrote:any of you think I should spend the money to get it repaired.Repair what? In the process of using new gear it becomes used gear. You can tell when this happens because it looses it's "shiny" quality. Don't glissade on hard snow if ya want yer pants to stay shiny. |

Over the years, I've had the local alterations shop sew a cordura nylon patch over the seat of a few pairs of pants to take the abrasion. You could do that to reinforce your pants. Cheaper than a new pair of pants... |

Thank for the comments. I am not familiar with waterproofing so I was not aware it was on the inside all I knew is I was always dry but wasn't sure on longevity. It crossed my mind to look into cordura or something sew in. |

get a cheap pair of swim trunks and wear them over your nice expensive shell pants if you plan on doing any glissading. |

Wilderness Exchange in Denver does Consignment on used gear. And there is a business called Stitch Lines in Denver who does repair... but they dont need repair...

Your problem will not be solved by spending more money to upgrade/repair your fancy pants. Instead, try glissading standing up. |

Glissading standing...what the future may hold! |

just throw some cheap soccer shorts over those bad boys and glissade away.... |
