I started climbing a little under a year ago and found that the Evolve Demorto shoes fit my wide foot best. I'm now on my second pair, but have learned that while they are great for all day comfort, they mostly suck when it comes to heel hooks and overhanging lines. (then again maybe it's my climbing skills that suck) Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for a more aggressive shoe for a wide foot?

I don't believe any company designs shoes for clowns, so I'll throw my preference in. I'm not sure if my foot is as wide as your's, but I've found solace in Sportiva's Muira VS. Good toe box.

Bare feet for overhanging stuff. Just start out with one route a day and build up. After a few weeks they will toughen up like your hands. You will be lighter, save money on shoes and be able to grab holds with your toes like a monkey

I have wide feet and have always had good luck with 5.10. I got the arrowheads and they are sick great for heal hooking and steep climbs.

I am going to have to throw the Optimus Prime out there. Nice wide shoe that is wicked good at heel hooks and the steep stuff. If Evolv seems to fit your foot try their other shoes. I have big clown feet and these fit me like they are custom made. And they are cheap if you shop around the globoweb a bit.

Actually since you live right close to the Evolv factory just go there and get some Pontas closed out. Should be fine really.

Evolv Shaman hands down for overhanging and heelhooking...best true aggressive shoe for my wide foot. The Optimus Primes are pretty good too but not as good for heelhooking or extremely overhanging stuff...I actually prefer to wear my Primes on slabbier stuff and Shamans for big roofs. I did a recent review of the Shamans on my website... UpstateBouldering.blogspot.com and Cruxn.com and do some comparisons of the two shoes too. For my big ole flippers, I don't think there's a better combo of shoes to send hard in!

The Primes have a semi-symmetric toebox, which, while not perfect for a long second toe, is better than most.

Thanks for the feedback. I've looked at the Primes and will order a pair. Sadly, none of my local retailers carry them. I wear a size 11 street shoe and my Demorto's are an 11. Will an 11 in the Primes be a good fit?

might want to go 11.5, but really, I'd find a place that you can try them, or at least send back if they don't fit. Zappos? The new Shaman actually works well for us wide footers. It's very very aggressive though.
