Why no climbing in Mueller State Park?
|
I understand climbing used to be allowed there. Anyone know why this changed? |

the sheep did it |

Call them and ask the park manager. |

I called Mueller State Park and was told to call the division of wildlife as the rock in question (Dome Rock) lies on their property. They stated that there are no 'general' climbing restrictions for the wildlife area (Mueller State Park says the same) but that there are indeed restrictions for Dome Rock. Curiously, they could not tell me why this is and instead deferred me to the law enforcement officer for the area for which I am awaiting a call back. |

Sounds like the Resource Protection Committee again. Just try and find out who they are sometime, might be the most secretive and unaccountable group in the state. |
|
Update - I have not heard back from law enforcement officer for the wildlife area as of yet. I called the division of wildlife again to see if anyone else might have additional insight into the situation but all I could get was speculation that the climbing ban may be related to golden eagle nesting or sheep calving grounds. |

Very cool that you are looking into this. My guess is a lot of people that used to climb there have long written if off. |

Ok, so R.D. Pascoe with the Access Fund just emailed me and would like to gauge the interest of climbing in the Mueller State Park area (most likely to determine if they would like to dedicate the resources to delve into this further - understandably so). I created another thread here so the good people of MP can chime in and make their voice heard. Please pass the word on to anyone you think may be interested. |

I am very interested in climbing there and willing to help as needed to make it possible! |
