Stop the hate

This is an online "forum" for rock climbing. It's here for others to enjoy and find out good information about the areas they climb in.

So that being said......why all the hate. I know I have been guilty of it as well. But not anymore. I'm gonna stop the hate and just climb.....why.....cause climbing is way more fun then hating on others for posting things you may not agree with.

Here's what I have learned. Years ago, when I first started climbing, I got into some heated debates with James S. At the time, I thought to myself "I hate this motherfucker. He's pissing me off." Then I met James and we have been great friends ever since.

The point to that story....
Everyone is different online than they are in person. It's hard to type out sarcasm. It's impossible to see the expression on someone's face when they post a comment, let alone "feel" the way they said those words.

I have found more often that not, that most climbers are very nice folks who love to climb and love to talk about climbing. They love to share their climbing experience with others and are more than happy to go out of there way to do so.

So why all the hate? I think it's pointless in most cases.

Really??? Who's gives a shit if someone ads a bunch of variations to existing problems. In the end, is it hurting you and your climbing.....NO....then shut the fuck up and climb.

Is it effecting the grade you gave a problem.....NO....then shut the fuck up and climb.

Is it making the area less cool and less fun.....NO.....then shut the fuck up and climb.

Is it ruining the existing routes in any way.....NO.....then shut the fuck up and climb.

The list could go on, but you get the point.

Now get out there and enjoy yourselves.

I think the OP in the thread you're referencing was clear - he doesn't care about the lines, and agrees that their existence/grade don't affect him in any way. He thinks that posting each variation as a seperate problem makes this website hard to navigate and understand. That's a very reasonable thought that he asked for feedback on, seems like his goal is to maintain what you say above.

You completely lost credibility with me when you closed your statement about how people should be nicer to each other with a whole bunch of "shut the fuck up"s.

Oh the irony of the OP. This post in itself is a paradox: "Don't hate.... I HATE IT WHEN YOU HATE... STFU INSTEAD!"

Pointing out the obvious: Anonymous Internet Hating + Mountainproject.com = Entertainment for the dull hours I spend at work.

Without the hate, what would I do all day, work?
