To the Bowl-cut dude and crew on the 1st flatiron the afternoon of Memorial Day:

Do you believe in Natural Selection? --MarcMarc, you just restated basically what I said, although you stressed your lack of moral obligation to dumbasses. Fair enough. What has Natural Selection to do with it? The majority of people alive would have been selected out if it weren't for some sort of artificial intervention, be it medicine, nutrition, governmental, or advice on how not to get killed. What does my position on Darwinistic theory have to do with Bowl-Cut getting his kicks on the 1st? |

Man...this thread is why I keep coming back to MP. Someone's observation of a couple of clods farting around on the First Flat has generated commentary on bowl hair, Darwin, human morality, appropriate slab-climbing footwear, professional safety training, yuppie douchebags, and hockey game beer selection, to name only a few topics. I've stayed an extra half-hour after work just to read it! |

+1 that natural selection is antiquated and bears little impact in modern times. |

Well, if you zoom in you can see the lettering on my "Never Say Die" Old Rasputin shirt. Needless to say, I couldn't approve of your beer choice more than I do right now. If it weren't for the jealousy, I'd even cry a little tear of joy for you. -sp wrote: Decision made: northcoastbrewing.com/beer-… |

Do you believe in Natural Selection? --MarcI don't believe in allowing people to kill themselves due to simple stupidity. We are talking about HUMAN BEINGS!!! Not prairie dogs or squirrels man. I'm sure there are people in your gene pool that may not be up to "snuff" and I'm SURE you don't want them hurt? At least I hope you wouldn't... These people have moms, dads and family members..people who love them and care for them. Maybe I'm a caring guy, but these are people! |

Generally I dislike about %90 of the human population because they are stupid......... |

I agree with the post that 90% of the population is intolerable, but that doesn't mean that you can't give a damn about someone getting hurt. I hope you no one here has to experience the same callousness that is being shown towards others. |

I'm callous because I believe in leaving people alone and not telling them that what I think they are doing is wrong? I'm callous because I don't take it upon myself to give questionable and subjective advice to total strangers when doing something I may not approve of? Why do you feel it is your duty to save everyone from themselves? Christian perhaps? If someone is hurt or needs help, and wants it, I'm usually one of the first to offer assistance but if they aren't interested I keep to myself. What's the problem with this approach? Am I evil because I don't believe in making other people go through life exactly the same way as I do? |

If the intent is to "let natural selection take over", then yeah, whoever does that is cruel and doesn't give regard to human life at all. If, Yarp, your intent is to not push your advice onto someone you don't know, then yeah leave them alone. But since I think a majority in this thread are talking about life or death situations, it changes from being subjective advice to saving a life. Purposefully turning a blind eye to a life or death situation can be perceived as callousness. |

What you may perceive to be a life or death situation might just be a good day out for someone else. Still subjective. Just mind your own business unless asked. That is all. |
