No details about the accident, but the photo gives me the impression the person fell off the trail as opposed to falling on a route.

That trail gets really slick when wet...

The climber involved was Phil Powers, the Executive Director of the American Alpine Club. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Phil!

Hi All,
Luke Bauer, Content & Marketing Manager at the American Alpine Club here. Thought I might chime in and let you know that The AAC is focused on Phil, his family, and his recovery and is asking that well-wishers and concerned parties send their words of support to the AAC either via email at getwellphil@americanalpineclub.org or via mail to American Alpine Club 710 10th St, Golden, CO 80401. The AAC will make sure that they get to the family.

As soon as any new information becomes available it will be shared and posted at americanalpineclub.org/p/st…. Please do not contact Phil’s family at this time as they are dealing with many details important to his recovery.

Thanks,
Luke http://www.americanalpineclub.org/p/status

Phil Powers went home today. americanalpineclub.org/p/st…

He gave me a call this afternoon. He is able to walk, use both arms, etc. No nerve damage at all. Incredible! He sounded just like his old self. He says that he gets tired easily and will be taking it easy for a few weeks. He really appreciates all the well wishes and concern the community has shown for him and his family.

He is one tough guy. And lucky too, as he pointed out. Way to go Phil!
