Or do the same and just eat less.

Based on this thread I started counting calories last week (2/22). I limited myself to 1600 calories per day. No change in the types of food, just the quantity. No change in exercise (hockey 3 nights per week, jiu jitsu 1 night).

So far I've lost 11 lbs (from 222 to 211). I don't feel hungry, or tired, and still have then same level of energy. I realize this pace will slow down, but so far, so good. My goal is to be at 200lbs by 4/6.

You are saying you burned an extra 3,850 kcals per day for about 10 days straight, with a total energy expenditure of 5,450 kcal per day???

I call bullshit. Some of your weight loss is not from fat. More like, a large part of it.

P.S. Had to edit my original post due to moron math mistakes. Idk wtf I was calculating there, despite having somehow passed classes like differential equations.

That doesn't mean I don't support your end goal, however. :)

I understand the skepticism, and I'm not making any claims to the loss being all fat. But I'm telling you when I stepped on the scale on the 22nd it was 222 and today it's at 211. I've been weighing myself every day and the drop has been pretty consistent.

What I didn't mention in the previous post is the quite ridiculous eating habit I had slipped into - lots beer immediately after a game, late-night food, and on and on.

So I know it sounds way over the top, but I'm lighter by a substantial amount and I feel better.

(And I do appreciate the note of support)

Hey Elena- since we are neighbors you should consider becoming part of the south metro partner loop. Castlewood, Devils Head, R&J II, Lifetime Fitness. It would certainly behoove me to hang around a more active athlete.

My take on the fattening of our society is the amount of pure crap that is eaten. Food Inc. is only going to increase hormone and cellulose additives as food prices spike the next year. Plus, you add in the sit in front of a monitor all day generation and the numbers look bad.

Whatever one wants to believe, here's a movie that everybody in this thread should watch:

hulu.com/watch/196879/fat-head

It's a full length film, and the attempts at entertainment and humor by this guy are annoyingly horrible. Nevertheless, stick it out, watch it to the end, and then ignore it or whatever. But at least hear this point of view and consider it. The info on cholesterol is at least worth hearing once.

Be sure to acknowledge the blonde dude with the incredible 'stache.

Again, I ruin my name by suggesting such a sucky movie. But the actual information within this turd makes me obligated.

edit: There is a secondary agenda in this film dealing with libertarianism. Take it or leave it, it's not the point. I found it pretty distracting.

After 6 years of graduate school, two babies, and moving to a New Mexico (from Utah) for a new job, I put on 60 lbs. I lost all 60 lbs from Jan 1 - Apr 1 by:

1) eating less and eating clean, no liquid but water, no sweets
2) working out 1-2 times/day, EVERYDAY
3) going to bed hungry often

Since Apr 1 I have regulated my calorie intake/expenditure to maintain my healthy weight. I haven't felt better in years and am climbing better than before graduate school to boot. It's possible to lose lots of weight and maintain the loss, if you are willing to sacrifice.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
