Short story, the NOrth Face Mountain pant is the one I have deemed worthy. But it is out of season and impossible to find in medium. Hooray.

Anyone have any thoughts on buying a WOMENS medium? I am a guy, shorter than avg but not by much. about 31-32" waist and 31" inseam. Do womens pants vary in size significantly? Photo's seem to indicate the thighs are narrower in womens, but I am not sure.

Would appreciate input!

I would think you'd need a large. I wear medium and my waist is in the 28-29" inch range. 31" inseam should be near perfect. I think 32" is the standard. As for thighs, I think they might be roomier for gals, but I might be wrong.

Are they the MISSterious model? The mystery is why the button is on the wrong side.

haha yes they are going to fit differently. Would you go to a department store and expect womens jeans to fit the same?

I'm not so sure they would fit that differently. Snow pants and jeans are WAY different when it comes to fit. Jeans are much more body hugging. Looking at the pictures, both seem to have a very straight up and down cut. FWIW, I buy boys pants all the time because youth clothes go on sale quite a bit, and the fit is fine. They are a bit short in the leg, but I don't like my sport pants dragging on the ground anyway.

You can always return them if you don't like them.

Thanks Alicia. I looked at a sizing chart on Amazon, but it must have been some generic one because it seemed to match the mens sizing. Thanks for the recommendation for sure! I will probably end up going for these sometime in the upcoming weeks.

Nick, lol no they are jsut called The Mountain Pant.

Eric, yeah I know. There are 'unisex' sizing too. Believe OR used that on their winter pants. I've been watching for Furio pants but they are obsolete as well.

I would strongly advise against women's pants - the major drawback (besides being fitted for narrower waist and larger hips) is a SHORT Zipfly!!! This is my major gripe with even more serious outdoor companies who make pants for alpine climbing - their women's pants are incompatible with devices like freshette, I'm assuming they'd be a pain for male natural equipment too.

I was referring to an episode of The Office where Micheal has a woman's suit.....

Much appreciated.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
