Anyone know what conditions I might find there this weekend? Has Pikes seen snow recently? Thinking about a climb of Little Italy or the Chimney.

First off I'd call n make sure the road is open all the way to the summit they have a real bad habit of closing it at glen cove and that makes for a long hike up to 13,000'

This happens on such a regular basis that I've given up on climbing there as I'm sick of paying good money only to be turned back long before I reach the hero traverse parking area.

Judgeing from the way the weather has been here I'd say the road will be closed due to high winds and poss snow . I can see pikes from my house and I trust my eyes more then the wx man.

Good luck

Christopher,

I skied Little Italy last Thursday and it was well covered in hard snow. The road was open to a mile or so below the summit. I would guess but don't know that it's still climbable. Like iceman777 says, this am I could see new snow on the peak. I wouldn't begin to guess how much or how long it will last though.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make a call before driving down!

Ended up climbing near little italy. Great day (minus the 30 dollar entrance fee). Thanks for the beta.
