Has anyone been up climbing at Lee Vining recently. I am wondering about conditions. I was thinking of heading down there in a few days.

Bump..how about the Poole Hydro road..does anyone know if it's been plowed since this past weekend's dump.

Thanks

We went up yesterday (22nd). Snowshoed in, deep snow. Took around 5 hours to get to base. Made a decent yake trail with the approach and descent, should be way quicker if it holds throughout today or friday (which is suppose to storm). Ice was in good condition.

I'm just chiming in given Zach's post that they went in after lots of fresh snow. LVC is very avalanche prone. It's just a narrow funnel-shaped canyon. As a result, both locals and those familiar with the area will wait several days after a big dump for the snow to settle. Plus, the ice will likely be covered in snow, so there's not much point in rushing in.

Be careful out there.

Has anyone been up there so far in April? I'm wondering how late into the month there will be good ice. Looking at possibly 16-17th.

For future reference, the season is over at the end of March. I confirmed this with local guides. With all the snow I figured the season might have extended a bit longer than usual, but no such luck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
