FYI, I'm working on updated open source directions for anyone who'd rather make their own:

Sweet, I've been telling myself for a while now that I was going to get that sewing machine and sew a pair along with a bunch of other stuff... Maybe with this years tax return! But then I was wanting that gun before our president puts limits on them.

Thanks Moof

Andrew

I thought the handgun was mandatory for getting into aid climbing? Just one of those things you keep in the bottom of the haulbag, just in case...

Or are you wanting doubles/triples as backup?

oh, I want triples + of every size, just like my cams, problem is they are more expensive than cams...

I may have some questions for you about the industrial sewing machines again when I get around to looking

Moof,

Do you still have the materials for a pair of your cuffs (new disign)?

If so, I'd love to get a pair. My email is stocktonjc 'at' gmail.com

Thanks!

I'll email tomorrow, but yes, I have the stuff. I've been swamped with "life", but I have been itching to get back down into the work room.

Great!

Let me know what measurements you need and I'll send them along.

I need your calf circumference measurement so I can size the padding to match your calf (measure just below the knee where they will ride, preferably in whatever pants or lack of pants you'll be aiding in). Most folks are in the 14-16" range. ...
Hey Moof,

Is the calf measurement at the fattest part of the calf, or higher?

I'm interested as well, if you do manage to make it down to the workroom :)

cheers!

Just pm'd you, but sometimes those don't work. I'd be interested as well....

Howdy folks,

I got a couple PM's but have not responded. So here is the deal:

1. Work is kicking my arse bad this year. Lame excuse, but true. I have a half installed hardwood floor thanks to being slammed at my real job, which is making for a really happy wife...

2. I have a spiffy bartacker now, which kicks ass. Sucker was not cheap, but it cuts the assembly time on these things way down (redid a friends Ural Alp aiders last weekend, and boy is it a nice improvement).

3. I am ordering up materials to make about 10-12 pairs shortly. I will be making a bunch with 14" of padding (the old trangos had 12", and 80% of folks ask for 14" or 14.5"). If someone has monster legs, or girly small legs I will try to accommodate.

I will post up when I have some made, with pics, giving preference to folks who have previously PM'ed me. I will not be taking orders beyond what I can actually make, as I simply am too busy right now to be able to backup any promises I make for delivery.

I have material for a couple sets, so I might be able to bang out a couple pairs before getting assorted raw materials ordered.

Here is what this years model is looking like:

I have materials on hand for 3 sets, and all three sets are spoken for (this set is actually for #3 on the list, which just accidentally got finished first). I'm waiting to hear back on buckles, as they are the weak point in the supply chain for these things, then I'll finish ordering up materials for another ~10 pairs.

The bar tacker does a really sweet job on these, and the results are darn spiffy. There is still one linear tack by the hook, as I use a zipper foot to get in close, and the bar tacker just won't go there due to the step in material height.

Moof,

I just got my cuffs in the mail last night and I'm impressed! :-)

I haven't had a chance to give them a run through yet, but they look very solid and well constructed (and comfortable!)

Nice double-back buckles, fleece lining for the calf padding, great stitching.

They really do look quite professionally done.

Worth every penny,

Thanks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
