dynamic tied slings of cord

Hello everyone,

I did a search but didn't turn up much :( I'm replacing some sewn slings I have from their fraying however I was considering using 7mm dynamic bluewater prusik cord. I have always used sewn dyneema though..

Just looking for some advice on whether there is a reason not to. I know the dynamic aspect isn't strictly needed, but it can't hurt. And I feel like the tied slings will be more versatile in a pinch and I don't mind the bulk. So i figure the strength when tied with a double fishermans if the cord is 12kn is somewhere around 18kn or so?

Thanks guys!

Knots. The knots getting caught on EVERYTHING will drive you crazy.WAY heavier too.

Yeah, what Yarp said. Would make for a bulky trad draw as well. I've been thinking about using that bw dynamic cord for my cordalette though... would help with better equalization.

After tying some and racking with regular 7mm cord, your right the knot does seem to be a bit in the way, but perhaps ok. Certainly to bulky to try to triple them.
Perhaps have 4 or 5 this way, and the rest being dyneema tripled so the dynamic ones go on small pro that is placed.

Cord is on the way so we will see :)

I don't think it would really matter, but the knot will actually lower the strength rating; even with the elasticity built into the knot itself. That said, a couple of pieces of extra cord never hurt anyone. Throw a couple over your shoulder and you have them if you need them.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
