Finding Partners with Kids

So I like to climb and my kid likes to climb and my kid really likes to climb with other kids. We know lots of kids and lots of people that climb, but finding people who climb who have an 8 year old daughter is tough.I'm wondering if there is a source out there for finding people around the country who have kids and like to climb. I know there is the partner finder on here, but I'm really looking for something more exclusive. I would love to be able to put it out somewhere that I will be in what ever city, what ever time and would someone who has a kid close to 8 be interested in climbing with us. Anyone know of such a thing? Anyone have suggestions on starting something somewhere?

You don't say where you're located so it's harder to offer advice but I work at a climbing gym and we have a lot of parents that come in and climb with their kids. Perhaps finding a kid friendly climbing gym could help? It's not really an online solution to the problem but might work locally.

Good luck.

I think that's a cool idea. My oldest is 7 and already likes going to the gym. However, an extra adult, not mention someone your kid could relate to and climb with, would be a big boost.

I live in Durango. I agree that looking local is great. We have many friends that have kids that we climb with and it's great. Although I would always be interested in meeting new people. But really what I am looking for is something that would be bigger than just durango. We take a lot of trips that are a couple hours away and I would love to be able have some online forum to tap into when I want to go to Indian Creek. Maybe there are people in Moab with kids who want to do a day trip. How do I find them? Maybe I want to go to Toronto to visit a friend and want to climb for a day in Squamish with my kid. Maybe I want to go to Austria with my family (who don't climb), but my daughter and I want a day of climbing. Ummm, I seem to have gotten carried away. Any ideas?

Betsey, I feel your pain, but I don't know of any resource currently available to solve your problem. The best I can think of is to post on websites like this before your trip, or local websites for a given area, if they exist.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
