Well, where would it be and who would be there often enough to use it?
If it's outside of the concourses, nobody will have time- they will eb inside, fearful of getting stuck outside of their security, or ready to go home. If it is inside the concourses, who will be wearing gym clothes and have their climbing shoes in the carry-on.

The cost benefit ratio here sounds bad, If it wouldn't at least break even as a business (it wouldn't) then why fund it? I would not ask a tax payer to pony up for something I'd use a few times in my life at best.

Significantly lower cost and significantly broader in it's scope of users would be a small theater running National Georgraphic Channel specials or something.

I'd pay $5 or so for an hour or two of bouldering instead of evesdropping on insipid airport conversations. That being said, who's going to keep an eye on my carry-on bags while I'm climbing?

I fly in and out of DIA a lot for work. I can honestly say that I would most likely not use a gym, of any sort (climbing or otherwise) at DIA because when I arrive I'm in a hurry to get through security etc and get to the gate, and on the return I'm in a hurry to get home. It would have to be located in the concourses to be remotely appealing, but which one, A,B, or C? It seems that the real users of this gym would be climbers that are stuck at DIA and who happen to have their shoes in their bag or rambuctious children who need to expell some energy before flying (think the mcdonalds playland...)

I think it would be a cool idea that is also a waste of money.

What DIA really needs is an indoor kids playground. Many airports (i.e. Dallas) have a kids play groudn in almost every concourse. Having a long lay-over/delay always sucks. However, a long lay-over with a toddler can become hell.

I either want to get home, get on my plane or get a beer from the stress of traveling.

As stated in earlier discussion, what DIA really needs is a detonation corridor.

Any device will simply explode in the safety corridor allowing the individual to martyr themselves whilst others can enjoy coffee, read books, and post on the Proj with wifi. (free wifi, btw -- loosen up the girdle Alice and get with the rest of the planet)

No more need for TSA. All you need is some increase in janitorial services to clean up.

Smooth effective terrorism and efficient passenger travel.

Make it happen Chris. I think it would be awesome. If need be, ask the horse for guidance about it.

Yes this is a great idea. Rock shoes are easy to pack.
You don't need showers. Keep kids out.
PLEASE turn off those GD TVs and reduce the number of useless public announcements. By now we all know unattended baggage = evil.

btw.... I never mind layovers at Denver, I think it's one of the better western airports. A bouldering area would improve that even more.

Just useless, stupid, a waste of money, who will maintain it? just a prime example of how Americans waste money just like there government is so good and leading the world in the most useless ways to spend money.

Come on people, I love to climb as much as anyone, but face it We are such a minority in priority. Does DIA really need this, Would you really race to the airport to get your session in, Sure it would be fun, who might you meet, great, but come on, Smell the roses people, Useless waste of money. How about all the money to build and maintain this gets spread to keep DIA from jacking the parking prices, or pay for my baggage, LOL

I don't know about you guys, but I avoid the airport as much as possible, and I travel a shit ton, I try to time everything to the last possible minute, I get in and get out. Home base is beautiful Colorado, why the hell would I climb at DIA when I can get a pump 30 minutes away on natural rock. If a pump was needed, how about Morrison an hour prior to my airport Rendevous for a quickie if I needed it that bad.

Im sorry as cool as it sounds, and as much as I love to climb , absolutely worthless.

New question, whats the budget for this, whats the maintenance fees, employees? Is there a use fee?

Any other alternatives for the budget? Is there a site yet? Where?

What about a strip club instead, not to be biased, it could be coed :-) Then I might race to the airport a bit early!

That horse is satanic. It has, in fact, killed a man- its original creator. If you don't believe me, there is always google.
And we paid millions for it, glowing red eyes, big blue balls, and all.

Denver has a public art commission that is just hell bent on being as provocative as possible every time. They are relatively anonymous, and seem to be shielded from personal criticism. And this is coming from from a former art student who hailed himself as a UNC's "Irritant in Residence" back in the 80's. Difference is that I grew up, these bozo's never did.
Regarding the bouldering issue, the kind of sculptural structures Denver has at Central Park, and Greenwood Village's Westlands Park would be the way to go. No holds to maintain. Regardless, the thing would be a kid magnet.

it's a silly idea. it is cumbersome taking rock shoes and chalk through security, unless you made a "bouldering lane" that goes everywhere. so you could stem past security. and gaston past the pinwheels next to the train... and highball the escalator section. maybe a cave traverse above McD's...

What would be a much better option IMHO is farming ice in that entirely empty 4 story aztec village in C.

Why all the hatin' on Blucifer? Yeah, he's creepy and has a shady past, but he's OURS. If I don't see him leaving the airport, I will feel empty.

Totally!

A bouldering gym in DIA would make me tell my friends to fly through DIA if possible! But would the bouldering gym be after going through TSA security or before? If it is before, then I don't want it.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
