Proposition 203 - Medical Marijuana
Just curious as to the climbing community's take on the issue... especially if we have any doctors or pharmacists out there with an opinion. |
What were we talking about? |
It seems about the right time to me. I see no reason not to. |
As a ol' dirtbag, trad daddy, Boulder climber, I say MAKE IT LEGAL! |
I think its ridiculous that Medical Cannabis is not legal. |
I love that doctors will give you Oxy and Vicodin for pain, but Marijuana remains illegal. God forbid a cancer patient wants to put some weight back on and keep their meals down. Nobody seems to notice that opiates easily and regularly ruin peoples lives, while the side effects of too much marijuana are a messed up grocery order and the ridiculous idea that Phish makes good music. |
Either subject it to FDA regulation like all other therapeutic drugs or keep it illegal. |
DEF wrote:while the side effects of too much marijuana are a messed up grocery order and the ridiculous idea that Phish makes good music.I just have to give you props on this, cause its funny. That being said, I love Phish. Continue... I am staying out of this otherwise. |

I don't care much either way if it is illegal or not. However, what I do care about is how much money we waste prosecuting small time potheads and the lives that get ruined for this somewhat harmless activity. I will never comprehend how someone carrying a ounce of weed on them will go to jail and some wife beater or child molester goes free or gets fined. At the least, make it a ticketable offense and stop prosecuting these small time offenders. |
There is a drug on the market currently called Marinol that is a synthetic form of Marijuana. It is a Class 3 Control narcotic, while the herbal marijuana is/was still considered a Class 1 Control narcotic. Just for reference Vicodin and Tylenol #3 are Class 3 drugs, and Heroin and LSD are also Class 1 drugs. |

Even if you don't like the rules, if you live here you have to play by them. |

To heck with the medical, most of the users I've known aren't sick. |

Olaf Mitchell wrote:To heck with the medical, most of the users I've known aren't sick. Just, decriminalize it!Yeah, did you ever wonder why they're not sick? It's medicine, maaaaan. I don't puff too much anymore, but it should be decriminalized already. |

Cor wrote:Kia Marie, Good luck in your lovely state of Utah! They (The Government/Mormons) just love that stuff. . .Yeah, can you imagine the SIN tax on that! Everytime I go to Moab, I pack my own beer. The selection sucks, and prices are outrageous. However, I can't stay out of Utah for some reason, it's magical. |

It's time to quit wasting our resources prosecuting those who use a plant that has been proven over and over to cause less harm to society than alcohol and tobacco. |

While we're at it, let's make a whole bunch more illogical rules. Then half of us could play cop/jailer and half of us could play criminal. Let's start with this: It's illegal to eat McD fries and a burger more than twice a week. Now go to jail because you're harming yourself. |

The conspicuous holes in the drug brain are regions where the metabolic function of the brain has been affected. For people in tremendous pain or experiencing the side-effects of treatment, the diminishing of brain capacity is no doubt a good trade-off; they should have legal access to anything that helps them deal with their illness. BTW the greater the use,and the longer over time, the more substantial and permanent the damage. Just for the record, the Libertarian in me has always thought that any given person,of the right age, should be allowed to destroy their health if they see fit,as long as they do no harm to others. |

I'd love to see a link to any medical research showing long term studies of the affect of marijuana, a couple gifs don't convince me. |
