I've heard rumors, seen some pics, and found some vague things on the internet that imply Oregon may have some ice (other than on the likes of Hood and Jefferson.) Does anyone on here know any specifics that could help a Colorado transplant seriously jonesin to swing some tools?

Supposedly some things form up in the Columbia Gorge if there is a long, sustained cold snap. There are plenty of waterfalls around there, but the problem is that it doesn't get cold enough. You might try driving over some of the passes occasionally and looking for some crappy roadcut ice. I think the trouble you will have in Oregon is approaching any potential climbs. I'm sure there are ice flows in Oregon, but not many near roads that I'm aware of. Hopefully someone more local has some better tips. Good luck!

Paulina Falls freezes every once in a while. You have to ski in but the approach isn't bad. Just don't get on it when it looks shaky so it's still there when I get home. You also might try and find some caves around central oregon.

cascadeclimbers.com is the place to look, but all I see there is evidence of people driving a long ways for ice.

Head north on hy 35 on the east side of mt hood and when the canyon gets steep and there's frozen drips on the cliffs along the road. find a place to park and do the steep hike up the hill side to cliffs above. There's a few climbs there 100' or so wi 4? some harder.

if you see ice along the road in the lower cliffs then you can bet the stuff up higher is in.

Sorry can't help much more It's been 10 years since I've been there, but really if you dive 35 you'll know the spot that seems like an ice climb would be.

Yes, there is definitely ice in the Gorge but only when you get really low temps. The biggest difficulty is getting up the road to get to the climbs. Occasionally Crown Point will freeze over and there are several shorter climbs further up the canyon. I believe the portland rock climbs book lists a few climbs in the back. I remember climbing bent screw and at least on other climb there about 6-7 years ago. Here are links to the annual discussions that come up every year on the ice in the gorge.
