Ground water contamination, lower property values long term health affects on the residents of nearby areas and you want us to help you find climbing areas in our area. No help here!

...I'm sure you've never used a petrol chemical based product before.

Of course same as you. Once you have had a rig 100 yards from your house contaminating your water supply, big trucks rumbling through your neighborhood 24 hours a day and creating health hazards to your family then you can make a comment until then STFU.

Hey lets all complain about the oil rigs! We can complain about them every weekend on our 300 mile drives to a climbing spot! No? Just me? :\

You can STFU too.

It all depends on what you do on a rig. If you are low man on the totem pole than you will be working a lot. But since the "boom" is over with you can have a little more flexibility. There is tons of climbing around here and chances are you will be working less than 40 minutes from rifle. Like I said, it all depends how low on the totem pole. If they tell you that room and board is included that means you will be staying in man-camp...

A friend of mine who lived in Monticello worked for a while on West Slope oil rigs. Similar to John's story; he made tons of cash, but it was not good for his climbing. He was physically wrecked (and not the good kind) and just wanted to sleep whenever he was off work. Did not have much good to say about the prevalence of meth and general dysfunction amongst his co-workers either.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
