I'm not sure of the exact area in CCC, but I thought I would share this with everyone.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine and his climbing partner were on a multi-pitch climb in Clear Creek. Upon returning to the base of the climb, they noticed both of their packs had been swiped.

Pretty vague post, but as soon as I get more info I will update it...

There is some commentary under the Playin' Hooky route commments on Oct 31:

And that is not a base where people would wander by! That the one your talking about?

Jeeze, that completely sucks. You could haul up to the first pod and hang the packs off the wall, see if those meth-marmots go for it.

I'd almost swear someone could make them spend the night re-thinking their purpose in life before getting an assist off.

Anyone stuck above such dangerous individuals; certainly a full service assist to those climbers as they would more than likely need evaluation and medicinal stability that only some pony kegged ledges and hibachis full of protein could offer.

Yes Wayne, that is the same incident I was referring to.

Just lame. I've got waaay too much trust in people. When I bolted Creekafixion up there, it took me two trips to get all of my ropes and gear over there. So after completing the route I was being lazy and hucked most of my gear back across the river from the giant boulder at the base of Solid Gold, then walked back to my car and drove over to pick it up. Someone could have made off with a lot!

Still can't believe some jerk waded the creek to steal a couple packs.

Another instance of people being jerks:
A couple years back my buddy was a window cleaner and was taking a break up at the dog house. Looked down at his car and saw a truck pull up just to steal his extension ladders off the top of his van. They took off before he could make it down the trail... LAME

-Cheers

That really sucks. Sorry about your friends bad luck there.

I'm amazed that someone would actually get over there to steal stuff. I didn't think twice about leaving stuff at the base either, got lucky I guess.

I've heard of car break-ins and stuff randomly in CCC, but never packs swiped right from underneath climbers! Sorry this happened to your friends on such an enjoyable climb, major bummer. It doesnt even make sense, either they waded the (cold) river or hiked all the way over there to take the packs-----strange. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. One word to the thiefs: KARMA!!!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
