Anyone know the extent of the damage with the "Dome Fire"? Has it effected access to any of the crags in Boulder Canyon?

a better question might be "is anyone been hurt or has lost a home?" Or a pet for that matter.

I drove by the Dome Saturday around 1pm. The Dome and Elephant Rocks are fine. No sign of fire on the front side. The burn area that I could see extends from the upper left/northwest side of the dome towards the north. So, no crags affected.

Allen, that would be a good question if all the news sources haven't already informed me of the status of people. However, they do not inform us of the status of nearby climbing. Thanks for the self-righteous comment, but that has already been covered.

Ivan, thanks for the info!

Thanks Robert for asking the question, I was wondering the same thing.

Allen, do a Google search for "Dome fire Boulder" and you will get four pages of info about the fire but not one article on the affects to the climbing areas. And since this is a climbing site, Robert's question seems justified.

Good news - looks like the Dome and the Elephant Buttresses aren't included in the fire closure.

That won't keep the transients out of the closure area; OSMP doesn't do much enforcement, hence the campfire that was the cause of the Dome Fire to begin with. From the top of the Dome or the EBs on any day you can see transient campsites, some with pitched tents, all over the place above the bike path...

Thats interesting. I was up there yesterday and they had the path closed off with police tape. Maybe they are gonna open it soon.
