Climbing in the year 3000!

After having made a few observations, I believe I know where climbing will be tending to in the year 3000. They are...

1) It is harder to down-climb than up-climb.

2) You are more likely to succeed if you are receiving encouragement from the ground crew.

3) It is harder to up-climb feet first than head first, and therefore harder to down-climb head first than feet first.

4) Free soloing is much more psychologically demanding than any other type of climbing.

These are all obvious observations, but if we put them all together, and realize that by the year 3000, climbing will have evolved into the ultimate sport, we see what it comes to: the climbers of the year 3000 will be free solo descentionists, going head first, and boo'd the whole way down. Naturally, to keep the sport on the cutting edge of difficulty and what's possible, it will evolve as such. This truly is an exciting prospect! I wish I could live to see the day when El Cap is descended in such style.

How else do you think climbing will have evolved in the year 3000? Will we be climbing on other planets with higher mountains, more gravity, and stranger climbing mediums? Will we have to compete with other life forms having more limbs and greater strength? Or will climbing simply go out of style as it is surpassed by a more supreme and exquizit passed time? Let us know!

In the year 3000, climbing will further break apart into even more specialized sub-disciplines, one of which will consist entirely of correctly guessing and placing pro at ground level into cracks while blindfolded. The activity will become wildly popular with younger people and inspire new, expensive lines of clothing.

In 3010, people will simply put on climbing harnesses and cock punch one another.

In the year 3000, paint on lycra will be the norm for climbing wear(think SI swimsuit issue body paint). Harnesses will finally have a built in crapbag and at least 8 gear loops on them. By then, evolution will give us longer forearms made of steel/kevlar tendons right through the fingers to your carbide tip nails. 'Cliffhanger' XXVII will be the sensation in 3D theaters with the vampire Stallone still as the star.

The silliest part of this is the assumption that the human race will make it to the year 3000.

You are assuming also that gravity will be pointing in the same direction then.

Did you write that awful crap that was the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still?" In the original, aliens come here with a big stick to say, "Don't f with us and your nukes, you violent Earthlings!" In the remake, aliens come here and say "We are going to rid the Earth of you polluting, mean Humans! It's not your planet."

KILL ME!

Anyway, yes, we will make it to 3000. I've already talked to Futureman.

Every climber will have a blog of their most awesome vids and climbs and soon after everyone will spend all their time just watching the videos and tweeting about how cool they are.....wait a minute,,the future must be right now! Next will be a rock climbing robot skeleton army!

To discuss this realistically.... I think by then humans will be able to adapt their bodies to pretty much any form, so any individual sport based on physiological perfomance will be somewhat obsolete. People will be pushing the boudaries of that performance and doing crazy things, but when you have geckho pads on your fingers, climbing isn't really a problem.

Team sports will be the main focus, even with telepathy it's hard to coordinate a group.

Both Sides of the Brain was a better album than Deltron, even without Automater
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
