Is it worth it to head to Joe's for a week or so between christmas and new-years? Or is there too much snow...

Thanks,

Will

IMHO, there is no wrong time for Joe's. That place is amazing.

Ice climbing is usually pretty good to go by then, so, yeah, totally worth it.

could be hit or miss anywhere in s utah that time of year, hit being 5 star and miss being 0 star. 50/50.

You would have to watch the weather and make the call last minute. Check out triassic. It can be a little warmer than Joe's on the colder days. Hueco might be a better choice that time of year.

I usually drive through that part of Utah on the way to visit my dad around Christmas. The last 3 years I've intended to stop at either Joe's or Triassic on the way and every time its been too cold and snowy/muddy. I'd skip it and go to Hueco or somewhere else with guaranteed good conditions.

I was there at xmas once and it was mostly a complete miss....I would focus on late January to get the better routes.
