best post climbing burger

I think I need a Bobcat Bite beakfast ! It's about a 3 hour drive but might be worth it.

In n' Out is on the way back from most of my climbing destinations (South Lake, Donner, Valley, etc.), but nothing quite cuts it like a homemade breakfast burger

This meal totaled around 1600 calories. Then I ate a Haagen Daz bar. That one hurt a bit.

when my wife and i first met, she was a vegetarian. after a long weekend of getting destroyed at vedauwoo, she said "where's the nearest hamburger?". we went to laramie and got some burgers at loves. they have a really spicy one that i like, can't remember the name....

in the boulder area, here are a few i like:
the toadzilla burger at the hungry toad - i save this one for special occasions. great burger with an egg on it.

oskar blues - silo burger. pulled pork and hot sauce on a big burger. should win a nobel prize.

smashburger - i like the baja burger or baja chicken sandwich. good and fairly cheap.

My house, 40% chuck, 40% sirloin, 20% skirt all ground together.

On brioche, toasted with provolone cheese, Sriracha sauce, mayo, tomato and lettuce.

I miss the 395 seasonal combo of Mono Cone and/or Walker Burger...

If you're at Twall and aren't going to Shufords, Merv's is about 2 stones throw away. Bonus: You could seriously get your ass kicked here, it's about as dive as it gets...the inspiration for 'gimme 3 steps' could have possibly been here.

If your a dirt bag climber like myself you might want to stay away from the Southern sun, or Mt. sun. In any case, you can get a burger, beer, and fries at Dark Horse for 5 bucks....1 beer at the S.Sun will run ya $4.20!! Plus there outrageous happy hour prices which is probably the worst deal in all the western states $3.50 a beer!..Come'on S.sun get over yourself..

You guys aint got $#!t on this bar out in Nipton, CA, just outside of NV.

Springfield Gorge... where I learned to climb in the 80's.
That was a loss. I don't think it was on farm land though- I thought it was owned by the Mesonic Temple, I think on a tract with an old-folks home. The farm property didn't include the river canyon.

As I recall it, the closure was after a guy up on top slipped and fell off, either setting up a rap or a TR. Anyway, he didn't sue, but his insurance company did, unsuccessfully, but it still cost the owners money to defend, and still was a pain. I don't think Ohio has a good recreational user statute, so I guess it will never open again?

The rest here is hear-say:
I've HEARD (though it has been years) that the po-po ticket cars parked there to enforce the closure, but that there is no other enforcement... that climbing there is still done but it is posted such that anyone injured is trespassing and not there with permission.

Well, there is a line out the door to get in there and no tables once you are... which means that they are milking something! I don't go there for that reason, but I've got to admit that they are doing something right, even if it is only marketing and image.

One place I forgot to mention positively is The Attic. Go in on Monday and get whatever 1/2lb burger you like with anything on it (you can order a specialty burger off the menu or call your own) with a plate of steak fries or sweet potato fries for $5... I usually SPLIT that with someone for $2.50 each!

Devil's Lake followed by Dotty Dumpling's Dowry. Mix that up with a Spotted Cow, pure heaven.

Best place would be the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM. If you haven't experienced a real New Mexico Green Chili Burger, then you don't know what you're missing.

Next runner up I would say Grease Wood Flats in Scottsdale, AZ. They have Green Chili Burgers that are good, but they don't hold up to the New Mexico quality.

After a solid trip in the White Mountains, the Reuben Pastrami Burger from the Common Man Restaurant in New Hampshire hits the spot!

Definitely a heavy Colorado bias here (though I guess that's to be expected).

For me, they've all been burgers on the drive home to LA after a long day or weekend in the Sierra:

The Ranch House in Olancha, just south of Lone Pine after a couple one day ascents of Whitney.

In-N-Out in Lancaster, also after some long days/weekends. I used to arrive home feeling really famished but found that if I stopped for a cheeseburger and fries, I and my stomach would be feeling good by the time I got home.

The "Murder Burger"...I've had many, and I never get tired of them.

an interesting burger that i have had - the gunks burger (i think that is what it was called), down at the little german restaurant at the bottom of the road. it was a burger on raisin bread - pretty good!
