Leaning toward the Sonic at this point, but was interested in hearing some feedback about either. The cirque is about $10 less and is in stock at my local climbing shop. Looking for a comfortable, basic harness for long trad routes. Thanks guys!

The Sonic is going to be A LOT more comfy than the Cirque... if you are ever going to be at a hanging belay you should get the Sonic. I have the Turbo and it is the most comfortable harness I've ever owned except for the Cadillac which I bought for routes where I'll need 6 gear loops. If you call them up they will probably make it any color you want, since I think the red is a bit much I asked them to make it black. Great company though... you can't go wrong w/ any of their harnesses.

Agree with Ryan and Mike - the Sonic is great. I just bought my second one yesterday. I use it for trad/sport/gym and (same as Mike) use Cadillac for bigwalls/aid routes. Well padded; very comfortable at hanging belays.

I know that I am a little late on this, but I wanted to put in my $.02 regarding Misty. In short, the two guys who own Misty are awesome. You can call them and they will answer your questions over the phone. Try that with Petzl. They will make custom orders for a very reasonable (sometimes free) price. Their products are solid and well designed. Everything is made in the USA. I don't think that there is another company that still sews its harnesses in the USA. Quality stuff at a fair price from good people - Misty Rocks! Full disclosure - I am biased. I own Misty products, but have no affiliation with the company and only know the owners well enough to say "hi" if we passed each other on the street. Now, back to drinking Sierra Nevada and working in the garage!

I have the cirque and I like it a lot, but I do have a few complaints: One: no matter how careful you are putting it in your pack, when you get it out, it will be a tangled mess, I usually have to undo the whole rig when I unpack it. Two: the belt loop slips a little bit. I can have it cinched as tight as it will go, and when I come down from the route, it'll have loosened considerably. Not to an unsafe degree, but enough that you'll notice it, especially if you're hanging from a sling at the top of a route. that sounds pretty negative, but I really do love my cirque, it's really comfortable and the gear loops are incredibly sturdy. It only takes, at most two minutes to get the tangles out, and on a multipitch route, it's really not a big deal to cinch the belt tighter at a belay stand. Aside from that, I encourage everyone to buy Misty Mountain, especially if you live in the southeast. You're contributing FAR less of a carbon footprint if you're buying a harness that was made two hours away from where you live.
