+1

That's great stuff. I spent last summer biking the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico and I made sure to have that "Butt'r" with me the whole ride. A little thick but works great.

I've used this stuff and it is awesome!

They also make powder for your socks to prevent blisters. I highly recommend it.

I recently moved out east from Boulder and the humidity caused me the same issues.

Works like a charm on long bike rides (50-100 miles).

Underarmor tight fitting grundos while your hiking and etc, don't sleep in them... Just make sure to change them daily and wash up down there or they smell like death.

Body glide for the legs

For the butt/butt hole chafing... Chamois Butt'r 8-Ounce Skin Lubricant... I haven't used it but i keep hearing people talk about using it.

On long trail runs I've had this question. Bump for more.

another for underarmor, also, you may not want to hear it, but eating wheat (gluten) if you have any sort of intolerance to it, gives you a wicked sweaty, itchy, rash covered anus. How's that for mature?

and while we are being mature, I burst a 'roid from biking too much a few years ago, anyone know how to prevent that?

Monkey Butt sucks..many years of wildland fire work taught me one thing:

Gold Bond Medicated...it's like a million tiny angel's kissing your beanbag (which now feels like a peppermint patty!) Enjoy!

+1 For the body glide, i put that stuff on before i run a marathon and it lasts through all 26.2 miles. I've actually had to wash some of it off after the race... after 4 hours of sweating

In my case it's 100% about the clothing. Don't wear anything that can draw an edge of fabric or elastic into an area that is sensitive.
For me that means loos fitting pants and boxer briefs. Briefs wedge a firm fabric edge into the wrong place. If you get lined shorts with built-in briefs, make sire there is no exposed rubber elastic or meshy material- or you will suffer for sure- been there done that!

Vaseline is easy to find, cheap, and (for me) works like magic. Worth a try!

I also can't wear boxer-briefs for long hikes/trail runs without exacerbating chafing issues.

chamois...I can say thru personal experience that this stuff works. I went thru a couple tubes last summer during a cross country bike tour

AT Thruhiker here. Vagisil is good for itchy asshole oops I didn't wipe enough syndrome. NOT for oh shit my grundle is chafed as fuck syndrome.

Goldbond is your friend. Apply multiple times a day. Keep that shit dry. NOT greasy and wet. Goldbond is for my grundle is chafed as fuck sydrome.

Use Goldbond I fucking swear by that shit. Took me almost 1,000 miles to figure it out but I did.

Former Ironman and Ultra-marathon athlete perspective,

To prevent chafing I would try to find a lycra infused pair of boxer briefs(think cycling shorts), they will hold you man meat in place and will prevent any excess rubbing of your pants in the area. The lycra will also help wick moisture away from your man meat and keep you nice and dry (freshness is a different story).

If you are looking for "Lube", as others have said, I would recommend going with BodyGlide it works wonders for myself to prevent chafing on my armpits, nips, feet, and crotch while running.

Do yourself a massive favor and buy 2 or 3 tubes and LABEL them, you will thank me later. The last thing you want to do is potentially transfer your athletes foot to your crotch, and have to deal with Jock Itch.

Also if you do not want to carry a whole thing of body glide you can carry chapstick branded chapstick. Be sure to remove the label and write your body parts on the tube. Don't want to accidentally use the butt hole lube on your lips. Chapstick has made the difference in me dropping out of a race and finishing the race multiple times

Bonus tip: You can use the chapstick to lube your zippers before you throw it away.

Curious here because you are trying to prevent chafing but it is inevitable for things like ironman races etc correct? If you go on a day or week long hikes (not ultra running but backpacking) do you wear lycra shorts and use the lube or do you try to stay dry down there?

Im not trying to witch hunt here im just legit curious!

Thanks

I'd recommend using what bikers use, or even just vaseline. I know I get wicked chafe and burn if I don't lube up.

Proper fitting lycra shorts to wick the moisture and keep your body parts in place. In triathlons, getting out of the water and starting the bike, you're wet and everything is wet. But me having thinner thighs I guess never dealt with much chaffing except when cycling 75+ miles with bad fitting shorts. Vaseline or Chamois butt'r worked for me until i got some proper fitting garments. When on long backpacking hikes, i wear underarmour tights to keep everything in place and dry-ish.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
