I bet locking biners on every draw would help.

One of my partners has the annoying habit of rotating every single crab clipped to the rope, to lower the odds of an accidental unclip.

After seeing this picture, I may pick up that annoying habit myself!

Heal up buddy.

I'm glad that his injuries were not much worse. That could have been REALLY bad if it ripped through taking all sorts of muscles and tendons with it.

I think he's earned the nickname Patrick "quickdraw" Kadel.

Return his equipment & then the insomnia will depart & you will be able to sleep again. Nothing like a clear conscious...eh?

BTW, get well soon!

patrick kadel wrote:Nick, thanks for the ride. For anyone wondering how this happened...I don't know, exactly. I had the good left foot, I had good gear, I fell, and then I was shocked at the result. I can only speculate I got my arm pinched behind the gear and somehow created the perfect storm for the meat hook maneuver. Thanks for the good wishes...the DMM Meathook carabiner has since been extracted.
do you sharpen your quickdraws?

Offering a 6-pack of PBR and a burrito in addition to all that fine karma for the safe return of the cams, nuts, and slings. there is blood cooties on it, you don't want it. All the gear has been dropped several times from great heights, this gear could kill you, i don't want that on my conscious. it would be best for everyone if you took the PBR.

No questions asked.

I'll take dropped gear any day over pbr's. One might kill you, one will kill you. I'll take my chances with the dropped gear.

The gear was once dropped into a vat of pbr.

For you, a six pack of your choice.

Yes, that is easily the grossest thing I've EVER seen, and now I'm going to have nightmares about falling & being impaled by my gear! Cool stories, indeed!
Thanx for sharing - I'll wait to see the scar (or stitches) when you come here in a couple weeks.

One more reason to support barbless climbing. Catch and release only.

Malcom Daly wrote: Nice puncture, Patrick. New we have one more reason to buy keylock carabiners. They come out of your arm easily.
Climb safe,
Mal

Mal, given the obvious need, when are we going to see key-lock super fly's? David S.

That is absolutely awesome! Heal fast.

P.S. next time your aid climbing use a fifi hook, and hook it to your harness, not your flesh.
