I know several women who bolt new routes, but you're right, it's pretty rare. |

my wife and i put up a route together a while back, gear line to a bolted anchor. i drilled one and she drilled one. i instilled the fear of the dreaded 'spinner' in her, which was good. there has never been a straighter, narrower hole hand drilled anywhere. it took her a while though! |

Jasmine Kall wrote:Why bolt? I just use my rack!Jasmine, you need to come down to El Potrero Chico and experience the joy of free-climbing big walls without having to carry all that frickin' gear, place all that frickin' gear, remove all that frickin' gear, re-rack all that frickin' gear, build anchors etc, etc. |

But certainly hats off to those willing to climb with trad skills there. That generally restricts you to frightfully loose ridge scarefests. |
