I was just curious if anyone knew the conditions in Lamb's slide...Stepped out? crampons really necessary? etc. Thanks in advance...

Brian,
Last week it was in, which means crampons necessary. But conditions change fast this time of year so contact the Rocky Mountain National Park Information Office at 970-586-1206.

crampons 'yes', from now until likely Nov. or Dec. when there is enough fresh snow for higher avi danger and no crampons necessary

Just as a response...I went up with approach shoes and kahtoola microspikes, and it was perfect. No need to haul mountain boots or full crampons up. It'll probably ice up more in the next month, but right now it's great. Thanks.
