Sounds like fun! I've been really interested in checking out Tongue Mtn, too.

Mitch, I hope that you can make it. I see that you climb over at 9 corners. We are talking about possibly focusing on that area next year but we need to make contacts with more people that frequent that area to make it possible. -Todd

Todd, I too look forward to this years climbing festivities. I was really psyched when I heard Jay Harrison mention the festival might move further south next year. We would make it worthwhile. In addition to all of the new boulder problems at 9 cornered I have been meaning to relay to J. Haas, I have also been working on smaller cliffs in Caroga lake. So far, Green Lake Cliff (40+ feet tall) has 10 mixed routes ranging from 5.9-5.12+, Otter Lake Cliff (40+ feet tall) has 12 sport routes (all falling somewhere between 5.10-5.11: many of them are 4-6 bolts to anchors)...mini guides to both of these areas are being worked on so the climbing community can enjoy them late summer/early fall. Bill Griffith and Gary T. have also been continuing their efforts with more additons to Lost Hunters and another cliff on Sherman Mountain dubbed "McMartin's Cliff"...somewhere around 10 new routes. Plus Lost T and the Annex Cliffs have seen additional development since last summer. I can't wait to show others these southern adirondack additions!

Forgot to mention that The Green Lake cliff is a 5 min hike from the parking with no elevation change and Otter Lake Cliffs is an easy 20 minute approach with very little elevation change.

We should get together during the Festival to make arrangements for next year. Wouldn't be a bad thing to meet, or at least communicate, before then. I would like to get firm commitments for organization and event scheduling so we can announce the locale for 2011 - with some certainty - during this year's festival. Looking forward to both this year and next. I've frequented a few of the LG region crags, but not nearly enough. And I've only leered at the "known" stuff out Caroga way.

This event is great! Hosted by terrific laid-backed folks who are tremendous hosts! Great way to get introduced to climbs in the area and meet the very affable locals. Had a great time at Crane Mountain last year and I'm eagerly looking forward to this year's event. The spaghetti dinner and presentation by Tom Rosecrans will be icing on the cake! Tom's stories around the campfire last year were great. I'm looking forward to his presentation. Also based upon last year's experience I am looking forward to some really top-notch climbing!!!! See you there. --- Bill

It was great, folks! Friday's BBQ at Rocksport was the perfect get-together event - tho a few did scoot off to climb and didn't get back 'til way after dark. Saturday, I manned the Reg-booth until 11a, then scurried to Shelving Rock for a picture-perfect, jaw-dropping view whilst climbing several routes there. The New Buck crew came up around 4p, having enjoyed their day out there, they wanted a look at the stellar backdrop of Shelving. I headed out to help with the Spaghetti Dinner - which was lightly attended, due to the overwhelming majority of climbers electing to stay on the cliffs. We delayed the evening show in order for those stragglers to come in, then Mitch Hoffman gave us a preview of next year's location, Jeremy Haas showed his guidebook flick, and Tom Rosecrans covered his Pumori trip. Prizes were distributed, and much of the crowd headed back for an encore spaghetti feast, with Todd Paris manning the stove once again. Cloudy skies held off their loads until 2pm on Sunday, allowing 17 or so of us to sample the fixins' at Stewart's Ledge. When the rain finally came, we were all well-fed and ready to call it a grand weekend. Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, and attendees. Great time; hope to see you all again in 2011, the weekend after Labor Day!
