I sent in a pair of Mythos about a month ago. Haven't gotten them back. Left 3 messages over the last 10 days. Haven't gotten any response. Used this guy once before and it was fine and pretty fast. Any clues as to what's going on there? Thanks.

Kalil -

I've had the exact same situation happen with Benet at ProDeal. First pair of shoes, July '08, resoled and sent back to me within two weeks (I live in Fort Collins). Second pair, in October, took 7 weeks to get back and he didn't answer several of my calls or emails, citing that he had gotten really busy and wasn't keeping up with correspondence - it took someone else contacting on my behalf to get a response. However, the shoes got to me a week later and he knocked 10 bucks off the repairs. Third time around, two friends and I sent him six pairs in total, took about a month, and he responded to all the emails I sent him. The reason I stick with ProDeal is that they do excellent work at a reasonable cost, and he took care of me after not answering my calls/emails. Every shoe my friends and I have had worked on by ProDeal has been repaired expertly and held up very well.

My advice, keep on contacting him, and specify that he's not gotten back with you on other correspondences. They do good work, and, in my experience, he won't screw you over if you let him know what's got you disappointed.

Yeah, I've been having a similar experience. His pricing is really competitive...the lest expensive I've found anywhere. He was a little dicey about getting back to me when I asked how it was going. It's definitely not been 7 weeks, though...I guess the deciding factor will be the quality of the resole. I'll post again when I get my shoes.

yep, I had the exact same experience as well. my first order was super fast, maybe a week turn around, and I was impressed with the work. Sent two more pairs in a couple months later, and it took a month or so at least. Did not get any responses to emails or calls, shoes just finally showed up at my place.

I do like the work they do, but it's a little frustrating to not get any response. I mean all he has to do is make a few phone calls or answer a few emails. That's the kind of thing that will drive away business.

Thanks for the info. Got an email from them last night. Shoes are on the way. Patience is a virtue, I guess.

I agree, first pair was good and fast. Second (in the fall) took almost 2 months with bad communication. I think I'll go elsewhere now.

Yeah, RocknResole has never let me down over the past 15 years.

I had the same experience. Now I'll only use Pro Deal Resoles if for some reason I wouldn't need climbing shoes for 6-8 weeks.

Ditto here, took a demand to just send me my shoes back to get a response. A little communication when the expected ship date has come and gone would go a long way.

I was also less than impressed by the work, my mythos got cut deeper than thye should have, into the leather and cutting several of the stitches. Since then I went elsewhere for my last two pairs of resoles.

This guy is a Grade A Douchebag. It has been over nine weeks since I sent my shoes in. My credit card was charged about four weeks after that, but I have not seen my shoes or heard from the guy. He won't reply to e-mails or phone calls. I even told the guy that I am moving within the next month(which is true), and he still won't call me back. Not even a demand for my shoes and money back will get an answer.

Wow! And just think I almost sent my shoes to this guy, but went with Rock and Resole instead. Hopefully they will come through for me with quality workmanship and speedy service.

Komito! Komito! Komito! Nobody better in the country. His price is right, he's beyond honest, he's been doing it longer than anyone else in the country, he's fun to be around, fast turn around, and did I mention, total quality.

Got a name off of here (MP)actually from a similar thread by the name of Barry's Resoles out of Prather Ca. Had used The Rubber Room previously but this guy is close enough to go get my shoes if any problems. Barry is a long time climber and took up resoling as a way to fix his own shoes. Anyway started doing friends then ended up starting his own business. Had him resole 2 old pair of climbing shoes I'd had for 20 years and was very pleased with the work. He even called me after having taken the shoes down and finding problems with worn thread and the stiffeners. He resewed and added the stifferens as part of his service with NO extra charge. It took a week and a half to get them both back but the job was excellent. Barry even called and let me know if I had any problems or if the shoes delaminated he would repair them for nothing....Don't have the number off hand but might be worth a try if you have had problems with others....

Send your climbing shoes to the Plattsburgh Shoe Hospital in up-state New York...www.plattsburghshoehospital.com, tel: 518 561 0931.

I've been getting my climbing shoes resoled there for years, he does a great job and there is usually a maximum of two week turn around from the time send to the time received. And besides, Mark is a climber.

Hope this helps,

AB

Rock and Resole ROCK! The did my shoes in a week, including shipping across state. And the quality looks excellent! The price very resonable! I would recommend them to my best friends! Thanks Rock and Resole!

I need to get my shoes back before I can send them to someone else. It has been more than ten weeks, and I still have not gotten a reply.

FWIW, I've also heard nothing but good about Barry's.

Wow, there are some pretty sad and aggressive comments in here that I for one am not happy seeing on MP. "Grade A douche bag" is really harsh. MP is a place where I use my real name and wouldn't say anything that I wouldn't say to a persons face. For a long time that is how most people on this site were, lets keep it that way.

Anyways, ProDeal resole is the best. He does a fantastic job with the actual work. And it appears you sent your shoes in during high season, am I right. So yeah your turn around is going to take a while. If you know you need a certain pair resoled in high season quickly, you can go to an inferior resoler. If you are looking for quality use ProDeal.

I sent my shoes to ProDeal last summer. I'll agree with the previous comments that it was a little slow for my tastes (but seeing as it was in august into september, i may have been a bit optimistic about my expectations.) I think in total it took about 5 weeks to get back. My card wasn't charged until AFTER i received my shoes, and the contact that i did have was extremely polite and business-like. While i do wish he was a more regular checker of e-mail, i have no complaints.

As for the quality of work, i was extremely impressed. I sent in two pairs of shoes, one pair of evolv pontas's which needed rands and a pair of 5.10's for a new front sole. the work has held up very well, and i'm planning to send my galileos back to him for a new rand.

In my mind, he is definitely a solid guy, with a good word of mouth reputation and a high quality of work for a very fair price. And lets face it, your resoling shoes, which takes time. shipping takes time, and the postal service does lose packages and get delayed. if you need blown out shoes fixed the next day, shipping them to colorado probably isnt the best idea!

I’m dealing with the same crap as everyone else, nearly 3 months, NO SHOES, NO CONTACT with company. dozens of emails sent and phone calls made. I had to contact better business bureau in Colorado but they couldn’t contact him. Called my credit card company to get it worked out and they couldn’t even reach him. this guy is stealing shoes. I’m thinking about taking a trip out there to give him a piece of my mind.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE STEALING SHOES

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
