Just wrote something up for our newsletter. Check it out planetgranite.com/news/?p=7…

PSICOBLOC PROJECT UPDATE: Any money raised on kickstarter will not go toward the project UNLESS we meet our $5000 GOAL. Your donations will not go through until that goal is met and the fundraising time period ends. I wanted to explain that since it may not be clear how IMPORTANT it is that we meet that $5000 goal.

We only have 14 MORE DAYS LEFT of fundraising! We need the support of the climbing community. If you were to pledge as little as $5 you would get a copy of the final DVD free. Check out the rest of the pledging options here kickstarter.com/projects/tr…

I have a new video for Mountain Project. This one is from the Roadside Crag in the Red River Gorge. Just like I said last time if you have any feedback feel free to spill your guts. Feedback has been helpful for me since I am new to video.

Feel free to share these videos with anyone.

10 seconds in...is it just coincidence that you used a song from a popular climbing video?

Legit other than this! I enjoyed it a lot. Having been there myself and seeing your artistic perspective on the place made it more enjoyable, perhaps.

Great colors. I liked the anchor black and white 4 picture thing and then zooming in to color on one. Easy to watch the whole way through.

I also like specifying the climb rather than the climb (not to mention the grade!)

Recursive comment comments recursively? I actually like the climb rating so I can see if its something I'd like to get on, though I know all these, but this is kind of something that bugged me about Rocky Mountain Highball. I wanted to know the grade of the climbs, just for kicks. I know they were trying to avoid focusing on grades, but I am a curious guy.

As for the video. Its fantastic. I'm just getting my photography skills dialed in but I really want to start doing this HDSLR video.

Any technical info about the video, the camera, the lenses, and what you look for when you shoot would be really appreciated. Also, if anyone has any recommendations on rigging for shooting video or photographs from the top of cliffs like at Roadside, where there is no noticable easy access to rap from above. Bushwack? Thanks!

Climb a neighboring route. Hang from anchor. Film stuff. I think you will find that a moderate easy enough to get up without too much trouble should be near whatever you want to climb. If not, you could always swallow your pride and resort to stick-clip aid climbing. Also, I think access to the tops of some of the cliffs is either very hard, forbidden, or at least sensitive.

If the anchors aren't too far apart like around Ro you can just traverse over if that is the easiest route.

I liked this one better.. since it had more climbing and the scenery was sped up but still there. Up Yonder is such a fun route.. i need to go all the way next time i'm down. I'm split on having the grade.. it is an easy area to look up the grade so for the red i don't think it is necessary.

I look forward to these videos. I have liked all of them, but I am easy to please. Any climbing porn will do the trick.

Awesome videos, it make you really appreaciate what the Red has to offer and how it is just such an awesome place to climb at.

Of the RRG videos you've posted, this is my favorite since there's a lot more focus on actual climbing and less on scenery. Keep it up.

I really like this one... you're starting to refine your segments a little better and exploring some great transitions between scenes. Great eye on some of the angles and close-ups.

There's one particular spot in the vid that I really like; where you adjust the focus to capture a heel hook in the foreground... nice.

that was also my favorite shot of the whole thing. Overall the video was amazing. i enjoyed the previous ones with the focus on the scenery. but this video really did have a great blend of the scenery and the climbing. keep up the great work.

In response to some of the questions:

I just like Dusty Brown. I've really liked his music for awhile. I did not use the track because it was used in another video.

The gear is used to shoot was

Final Cut Pro

5D Mark II
70-200mm f/2.8L II
16-35mm f/2.8L II
TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II

I rented from this place

I also had a the manfrotto 501 video head on my tripod so following the climber up the route would be much easier.

It is best to shoot from a neighboring anchor if you would like to set up a fixed line. You could climb up tic-tac-toe or scissors since it is rated an easier climb. For stabilizing the shot I was lucky cause I was against the wall and in a tree but when you are hanging in free space you need to anchor into other locations as a directional.

Stabilizing the shot is also very tiring and it is best to stay as relaxed as possible. I tried holding my camera out in front and below me so gravity would pull the camera away from my body keeping the straps taunt and preventing any arm shaking.
