Warning Access Issue: Possible Illegal Access/Trespassing Considerations DetailsDrop down

Description Suggest change

A small tight limestone canyon can be found 10 miles west of Lone Mountain. The climbing is sport on sharp gray limestone. Routes are around 30 to 60 feet tall.

Getting There Suggest change

The area has seen a lot of development so I am not sure of the current access. Drive west through a quarry off of the 215 somewhere around W. Lone Mtn. RD. Once through the quarry look South for the obvious slot canyons. Hike south over or around a small ridge into the canyon. Head South up canyon for Trench Town turn West at the junction to get to Water World.

Thanks kenr for this 2013 update for access using a 2 wheel drive vehicle:

"GPS: latitude+longitude of some key locations:
.> Water World climbs : N36.234 W115.382
.> junction of canyons for WW + TrenchTown: N36.234 W115.380
.> leave road to go to junction of canyons: N36.237 W115.378

Perhaps the best way to get access is different on mid-week days from on weekends.
We tried on a mid-week day.

We tried going in thru the quarry (described in the two guidebooks). Soon a guy drove up to us and told us we couldn't walk in that way -- suggested we start instead from further north or further south.

We tried starting further south. It took us about 2.5 hours to walk in to the Waterworld climbing routes, about 1.5 hours to walk back out to our car after climbing.

We noticed that the main road west from the quarry was blocked by a very large deep pit or trench. (approximate latitude/longitude = N36.246 W115.360)"
