Edelweiss Zen Arc 9.6mm x 70m? OR Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope?
|
For purposes of mostly cragging at The Creek, and some trad climbing at The Needles, Tuolumne, and the like, I'm shopping for a new rope and am debating between 2 choices. |

You should also consider the Edelweiss Onsight 9.8. I actually just replaced that rope after three years with the Mammut Tusk 9.8 because I got a super good deal on it. I like the Mammut so far, but it will be hard for it to live up to the awesomeness of the Edelweiss. In the three years I had the Edelweiss I took it climbing almost everyweekend, and this last year 3-4 times a week. It survived 4 trips to Indian Creek, 4 trips to Red Rocks, at least 30 days at Vedauwoo, N. Cascades alpine climbing, desert towers in Utah and Arizona, and tons of local crag abuse. Just last week I deemed it was time to retire it. Good luck. I was able to find the 70m edelweiss bipattern for under $200. |

I don't know about which is better but I know you can get a good deal on the Tusk right now on Amazon. |

I have the tusk and love it! it's a little stiffer than most ropes but that shows how well treated it is. I got mine for $150 on rei. I'm not sure if that's still the deal but in my opinion it's worth paying full price for! |

I'd go with the mammut all things (price) being equal, but money talks, and I have been using that exact same Eidewiess lately. |

Thanks all for the response. I decided to purchase a Mammut Galaxy 10mm x 70m bicolor, which I found at a reasonable price through Alpenglow online for under $250. |
