bolt being chopped at vedauvoo

I was at the Voo this weekend and our posse meet, more like we were interrogated by, this crazy cat named scarpelli. If you were the one who chopped his route I would never, ever go back to that crag again. You might even want to quit climbing all together. This dude was pissed ! If he finds you I believe he will stick both hands (butterflyed) thru your ass, grab you by the teeth, and turn you inside out.

Any more details on this? Where exactly were you? Was it on an old route? new project? Chopping on either would be a really bad idea.

If you don't know Scarpelli, you don't know Vedauvoo. There isn't even enough bolts there to chop...just not alot about this story adds up to much, so far. Trad can be rad in WY

"I would like to address the person or persons responsible for destroying the new route between Cornelius and Easy Jam. Please contact me personally, Bob Scarpelli, at 307-631-0245. I have climbed at Vedauwoo for 40+ years and there is no one with a more profound love for the area. I have put up literally hundreds of routes, and not a single one of them thoughtlessly. I assume by this act that you feel your sense of ethics and aesthetics are more refined than mine, and that your climbing resume entitles you to dictate to the area.

I might understand someone taking the hangers as a form of protest. Instead you took it upon yourself to damage the bolts, leaving behind an atrocity, and that is unforgivable. Your thoughtless act makes me question just how refined your sense of aesthetics really is.

Because of my love for the area and thoughtfulness, I have developed a way to take down a Bob Scarpelli face route with minimal impact. If you would have contacted me, we could have reached an agreement, and I could have taken down the route without leaving your horrific eyesore.

No one has mentioned the key line - " a bob Scarpelli FACE route" WOW. i have known Bob for ages and have seen him do ONE pitch of face climbing.

It's not the first time Bob's gone over to the dark side. Back in the Carter administration, I took him up Harry Daly, before I started making him follow me up offwidths.
