ROADTRIP: IL --> WEST

I want to take a roadtrip out west starting in the saint louis area. My plan is to travel to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. I was thinking a short stop in Vedauwoo, WY, hiking maybe a 3 day backpack in the parks, then down to Idaho Falls to see some family (Free stay and food, provided they are still in town at that time) We could hit up City of rocks while we're out there. I was planning for this fall say 2nd week of sept. I would really like to fit some Colorado climbing and adventure in along the way as well. I dont have a lot of experience and would like to travel with someone that is interested in a trade. Say i pay gas for an experienced partner.. i figure its a sweet deal for letting me tag along.

I perfer to camp, and hit the road on the cheap. I have a 4 door car but we can take your car/truck/van if thats works.. i still pay gas!

When are you planning on leaveing? How long of a trip?

I was planning on going in sept. but as long as the weather is cool and dry(non-humid) im game, open ended really. I was thinkin an overnight stop for each climbing stop, couple days per major citys with climbing, and long enough to take some hikes and climbs in the parks. So i need to find a partner and narrow down the destinations...
