I believe that is Roger Breedlove's ring.

RB: I removed my gold wedding band while climbing in the Valley this past weekend, put in the pocket of my pack, but have lost it. Ed, Rik, Anders, and I climbed at the Potbelly at Knob Hill, Bishop's Terrace, and the CS Concerto (half way between After Six and the Nutcracker). If anyone finds it, I would like to get it back--I have worn it for 30 years. There is an inscription.

Gabe checked the incription and e-mailed me to report that the ring he found is not mine. Thanks for the information, Gabe. I hope its owner finds you.

Best, Roger

Gabe, have you considered googling the exact text of the inscription along with the word 'wedding' and 'band' or 'ring' and seeing if perhaps someone posted a lost article somewhere else on the net for it that quoted that?
Even most newspapers have an online classified now.
Also, a park office might maintain a lost and found record, as people who loose very valuable items usually report to local police to get a report for insurance purposes...
Yes, all longshots, but I'm sure if you found the person, they'd be delighted!

There is an old saying in German:
"Even the blind chicken occasionally finds the corn."

Thanks Tony I will look into that and I love the saying as well :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
