Ogden canyon will be closed for the Tenth Annual Ogden Marathon tomorrow morning. I think it's about time for the First Annual Ogden Canyon (Marathon)Climbing Day!

Closure starts about 7:30am and runs until about 11:00am

Taunting runners from half way up the Utah wall sounds like fun. Too bad I'm 350 miles away now.

What seemed like a fantastic plan to enjoy some peaceful climbing in Ogden Canyon while it was closed for the Ogden Marathon was crudely squelched by the authorities today. My partner and I packed our bikes for the 1/2 mile ride into the crag and was met at the entrance by two arrogant troopers telling us, "the canyon is closed to everyone!" That would have been understandable if we didn't watch other cyclists and spectators go in earlier. Not to mention, the entire route, even through the canyon, is bespeckled with spectators. Bringing up this fact only frustrated the troopers and they responded, "those runners paid good money and they don't need you bothering them." The entire route was strewn with people cheering, cycling along side and carrying on. WTF makes them think I gave a damn about the runners? All we wanted to do is climb, like we always do, during the most optimal day of the entire year. I guess we need to ride in earlier next year...

This is BS, right?

Double-douche-bag alert! Yes, that is weak weak. They gotta flex on someone to pump up for the day...

"Might as well be these conscientious well-prepared young men rolling up here...got your taser ready?"
