Sorry to hear about all your gear man. Make sure to call all the pawn shops in our area too. I had a buddy who got all of his gear stolen in big one day from his car and he called the pawn shops and told them to watch out for the gear. About a day later the pawn shop called him and told him that someone had tried to come in and sell them the stolen gear. Pawn shops work closely with the cops too so if someone tries to sell the gear then they call the cops as well as contacting you. Good luck man.

Cheers.

Just had a random flash back a from a few days ago while reading this. By any chance did one of the kids who were seen the day of the theft have large plugs in both his ears? Last weekend at the Green A gully I came down from a route to find two teenage kids at the base. First thing I noticed was that all of the gear on there rack was totally mismatched (some metolious some BD some with matching neutrinos and some not, some brand new some pretty worn) he also said he was just getting into trad climbing which made it even wierder and he starting packing his rack up as soon as I come down even though they were still climbing. The two sat at the base for a while chain smoking sigibuts and one kid told me he was new to SLC b/c he had to move out of phoenix due to legal trouble....sounds all to possible. If the kid did infact have plugs let me know. I am a terrible artist but probably can make a ok sketch and description. Sorry bout the gear loss but my guess is it will come back your way or karma will catch up with the theft. I mean seriosuly who steals climbing gear?

Actually not necessarily the best idea. Some pawn shops work well with the LEOs, but most don't. I was out looking for a friend's gear in pawn shops a while back and 2/3 shops told me to "get the f*ck out" when I told them I was looking for my friend's stolen gear. Another shop owner told me that it was a bad idea to tell the pawn shops that you're looking for stolen stuff. Most are as crooked at the thieves and aren't going to help you out.

I was climbing in the Green A area today and another party asked me if I'd heard about the theft at Crescent Crack. I replied that I knew all too well about it. However, they said that it happened just last weekend and that a pack was stolen. So it sounds like they're still at it and someone else just got hit. We really do need a sting operation.
