I am a MN native and got into climbing since I moved to OR. I will be home later this summer to visit family and really want to make it up to the north shore for some climbing. Basically, I am looking for folks to climb with, tips on good climbs, and any other advice you care to give.

Cheers,
~Adam

Adam,

I'd be more than happy to climb with you! I won't be availabe early in September though as I'm being dragged to a weddin'.

What are you looking to do (lead, top rope, grades)?

Looking for trad and sport climbs. I am working on a knee that had a broken cap three months ago, but I have been climbing 5.8's lately. I was climbing 10c last year and leading 10a's. I should be back to that or higher by the time I get back home.

I haven't set any plans for when I get home besides Harvestfest on the second weekend of Sept. so August should work out fine.

Well if you're looking for sport climbing then the North Shore is not your place. With the exception of a few bolts for anchors and the occasional pro on some run out .12's there are no bolts on the North Shore.

Now Red Wing MN has a good deal of sport climbing so that may be an option for you.

There are a good deal of trad leads in the 5.8 to 5.10 range at various crags on the North Shore so that won't be a problem.

I figured there wouldn't be many bolts. No chalk usually means no bolts. I am definitely down for some trad climbing; I prefer it usually. I'll let you know how my knee is doing as it gets closer.

No worries about having to heal up for some leading. I myself am still getting back in shape from shoulder surgery so I won't be leading anything hard.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
