Flatirons at night

So I think I have seen pictures somewhere of people climbing the flatirons at night, probably during a full moon. This seems like it could make the flatirons a more interesting climb. Do people do this frequently? Is the park/parking lot open after dark or do you have to just keep a low profile to pull it off?

The third can be a traffic jam during a full moon. It's amazing! The only time I used my headlamp is at the anchors jut to be safe. The moon follows you as you go up cresting and getting behind you as you rap. It's actually like climbing on the moon and can be as busy as in the daytime.

Totally legal but make sure to avoid the bird closures!

Well worth the time. One of the finest moonlight solos one is likely to do.

yeah, the flatirons at night is a pretty unique outing. i climbed the first and second on one occasion last summer, after getting off work at 10 pm. views of the front range were amazing.

I can tell you this: Don't try the descent in the dark with no moon and no headlamp. Just don't.

And watch out for bears in the late fall! Really...

i saw a couple mountain lions not too far off the approach trail the evening I was out there. Jason Hass mentions seeing more "wildlife" (i.e. predatory creatures) while in the flatirons than in RMNP - i believe it.

I've been charged by a bear, found out leter I was sitting on the rock that was the "lid" to it's den. Patty and I ran up a rock and out came two cubs...
Yeah, be careful up there in the evenings.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
