I'm Going to be in the Lake Summersville/ NRG area between 5/31 and 6/5. Family vacation and I'm the only member of the family that really climbs.

Being that I will be in such a great area for climbing, I am looking for some partners.

Also, could someone please comment on what I should expect for the weather during that time? And what is the current status of deep water soloing in the area (and best places for this potentially prohibited activity)?

The weather down there will likely be warm with a small chance of thunderstorms almost daily. Probably highs in the low 80s. Chase the shade if you can. Deep water soloing is still touchy, but get the new guide book and read up on Whipporwill. That's the ticket for DWS.

What kind of stuff are you looking to get on? If I'm still around here I wouldn't mind showing you around for a day or two but I can't promise anything. I may be headed to Montana for a job.

I'm not going to bring any trad gear (too heavy), so just a sport rack. Would be happy to do some trad if someone else has the gear though. I'm looking to get on anything.. I just want to climb! I'm not sure what my fitness level will be when I get there but I should be able to at least get up high 11s and low 12s.

Thanks for the beta on the weather and the guidebook! Is this the one you are talking about:

Will there be many people at the climbers camp that time of the year? If you or nobody else is available I may go there in the morning to see if I can find anyone to climb with.

The new guidebook written by Mike Williams is the one that you want to get. It's updated and fantastic.

During the week there may not be many people there. If you go at night and hang out you can almost always find someone. There are a handful of guys living there over the summer or moving back to live there for a bit. It fills up Friday-Sunday and there are a few stragglers that don't live there during the week.

Sounds great guys, thanks for the good info.

Will repost as time gets closer to see if I get any more potential partners.

Cheers,

Tony
