Hey guys,
I'll be living in Northern Idaho [Kellogg] this summer for a job, not too distant from the Bug's, and would love to do a few climbing trips up there. My work schedule is such that I get 6 days off every 2 weeks or so, so that means 4 days of climbing which would be great... if you chip for gas I could even pick you up @ the airport in Spokane, not too far from where I'll be. Or we could meet in Ivermere or Radium Springs B.c, alternately. Anyways... would love to do some classics like the Becky-Chounard, Pigeon, Snowpatch, ect... have alpine experience, lotsa gear, ropes, ect... anyways, thinking of a trip in mid-June... give me a shout if your interested. Oh and I'd be staying in the Kain hut. No need to rough it when the Alpine Club of Canada provides such nice amenities! :)
best,
Phil.

hey, i know a good group of climbers in sandpoint, id. it's about 1.5 hours from Kellogg. there is a lot of good 3 to 10 pitch alpine rock that they climb near sandpoint. i'm moving from there to boulder/ winter park in may. let me know if that sound like something you would be in to. i'll set you up with them if you want.

Hi Guys,

I'll be taking a Rock Solid Leadership course with Alpine Club Canada from July 9 to 16th in Jasper, not too far from the Bugs. I can spend a week in the Bugs either before or after my course.

I'd love to climb the NE Ridge of Bugaboo Spire. I started climbing 16 years ago. I trad lead up to 5.9. I was in the Bugs last summer and I know what I will be getting into.

I am okay to stay with the Kain Hut. I can get to the Bugs on July 3rd and stay there for a few days or on July 17 and stay there for a few days. Could you please let me know which day fits your schedule better?

Thanks,
Xiaoping

i'm from san francisco & will be in british columbia in mid july and was looking to do some climbing in the bugaboos, too. would love to do some multi-day, multi-pitch climbing. i'm a beginning leader (5.7 and working on it!) and follow up to 10.c/d. would love to find some folks to climb with!

oh, and can anyone stay at the aac hut? or do you have to join/be a member?

Hey Phil and all,

Its my birthday in july and i have been wanting to get back up there for a while now! I am really interested in a shorter trip due to time and money... Would really be into a link-up of all 5 major summits in a day... Of course after climbing there again and becoming more familiar with some of the routes.

Kelly, you can stay at the hut regardless if you are a member or not, but its cheaper if you are a member... Unless they changed something. Happy 4th of July all, and take care!

Just got back from Bug's trip #1, great weather and only 1 rain/resy day out of 5, we climbed Snowpatch, Bugaboo, and Crescent Spires. Who wants to go back in August? I'm flexible. :)
Best,
Phil

Yo Phil - What are the conditions like right now? How's the col holding up? Seems like there was a lot of snow this winter, so I'm hoping its in pretty good shape right about now. Thx.

I'm heading to the Sawtooths this week and then hope to head up NW from there. any interest in climbing at Squamish?

Hi Sibylle, I just got back from a trip to Rainier, so I won't have time off again until the 12th or so likely, but if your around then, I might be interested in climbing at Squamish. I'm in Kellogg Idaho right on I-90, about 7 1/2 hours from Squamish and 5 from the Bugs...will you be around the 2nd and 3rd weeks of August? I like mod. classics 5.8-5.10. [like everyone else I suppose :)]

On another note, I am looking for a serious partner for a 2nd trip to the Bugs in a few weeks.... August 12th-17th would be ideal, but I am somewhat flexible. I would really prefer someone who leads at least solid Bugs 5.9 efficiently, has been there before, and is psyched on routes like Surfs Up, Becky-Chouinard, Weissner's Route on Snowpatch, and NE Ridge on Bugaboo. Even if I just climbed the latter 2 routes, I would be psyched, as they were not climbable due to snow a few weeks ago but are now looking solid from what I've heard. Being comfortable simulclimbing 5.6 and under terrain is another plus. And, if someone wanted to haul my ass up Sunshine Cracks, I think I could probably hang with it... haha.

Thanks!
-Phil.
