SO I am just trying to get some feedback - I have a extra private room I am thinking of renting to traveling climbers, backcountry skiers ect in the mountains just west of Boulder / Eldo. I was thinking maybe 55 a night with a dinner and breakfast included. I can help with backcountry ski and climbing guiding. I just don't know how to get the word out. I would also offer airport pickup/ return if nessesary. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Great idea. What about asking the 'lonely planet' or Falcon guide to mention you in their next addion. Steve

I bet you can get a 'sponsor' add placed on this site pretty reasonably that would pop up on the roadtrips partner forum, or in the areas where it is that you would want to rent. Obviously being outside of any incorporated municipality would be good so that you can avoid the various laws that prevent you from boarding guests in a residence. But you still need to give some serious consideration to the cost and liability of running a B&B not to mention tax law and then decide if you want to do it above or below the counter. Not to mention the 'guiding' aspect of it.

Probably not worth it for one room. If you do this bandit style and anything happens, you are financially toast for the rest of your life. The list of potential catastrophes is long - paying guest choking on a chicken bone at dinner, slipping in the bathroom, or you get into a wreck doing your airport transfer. Insurance, permits, taxes, etc. is going to be prohibitive for one room at such a low cost.

Dwayne, FYI, guiding in these areas without a permit and the proper insurance is illegal and the fines for commercial use of public land without the proper permit can be as high as $50,000. Not saying you don't have the skills, but something to think about. Not to mention the legal and monetary issues that might arise should an accident occur without the necessary insurance. In short, while I admire your entrepreneurial spirit and desire to share the places and activities you love with others, I encourage you to think twice about doing so "under the table". Cheers, Mark

Do you have a really dope pad or something? This is 'somewhat' similar to what you'd find on couchsurfing.com, except it's free.

Maybe I will just try to find an outdoor minded person who needs a place for the whole summer without the "guiding aspect"

You could always have your "guests" sign some type of liability waver.

If you need the money, a spare room can grow some green other ways than renting it out, if you know what I mean.
