Who said that? No rules...

Anybody can post a quote. Anybody can answer. The only "rule" is that the person quoted has to be a known climber.

When told that a certain American climber was considered the best in the world, this climber said, "Sure he's the best, except for maybe fifty German guys, about twenty Italians, maybe, I don't know, ten Spaniards...there's Russians who could climb circles around him."

The climber quoted is an American.

You guys are all socialists. Won't even post in a thread with no rules. Are rules ALWAYS necessary?

"Mountains are not fair or unfair, they are just dangerous." Who said it?

Jody, Don't take it personally, I think people just prefer the original classic line to a variation that only adds 4 pitches, which are more chossy, less direct, and easier. If you created a variation that was harder or more direct, well then you might have something.

If you want climbers to worship your internet trivia thread creation skills, just keep score...nothing motivates climbers more.

LOL! At least "rule" is in quotes.

Mike, I couldn't care less if people like my internet thread creation skills. The last trivia thread attiributed a quote to someone who didn't say it and it wasn't properly corrected. Kind of soured me to that thread so I started this one.

I think Twight said (in Kiss or Kill?):

"Climbing was anarchy, and I an anarchist."

Hey, you guys aren't following the rules. Nobody has answered my quote yet.

Cool, another self-professed legend. You need to go post in my "Self-appreciation" thread.
