Sooooo if you used one of these to get up elcap would that be considered aided-aid-climbing?

From here:
"It makes ascending trees quick, easy, safe and almost effortless. Weighing in at only 20 pounds the Wraptor can lift up to a 300 pound climber at a rate of 100 feet per minute. The Wraptor can fulfill the ascending needs of arborists, mountaineers, high tower linemen, researchers and the recreational climber by providing a safe, efficient and easy means of access into high angle work environments."

Anyone know any 300 pound mountaineers? get ready to see a bunch of obese folks falling out of trees and whatnot...

Well, can you clean a pitch at that pace? If so I say it would be legit.

100 fpm... One could ascend Lover's Leap in just over 4 minutes. Wait! Where have I heard of that before?

It looks like you just end up sweating when you haul and look at your bank account rather than when you haul and jug.

Cool idea. I'm sure it has a good application, but not for climbing.

No if that's not Ironic. Bunch of tree huggers using gas powered ascenders.

that damn thing sounded like it was going to blow up! i wonder how extensive the testing was, sounded like that little chainsaw motor wasnt really built for up to a 300 lb load...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
