suggestions for tough shell pants (edit: Waterproof/breathable --- HARD shell)

Hello all-

I'm looking to get a new pair of shell pants. I'm wanting something pretty tough, to be used for ice and alpine climbing. Any good suggestions/positive experiences to relate?

Oh, and I'm not looking to spend $300+, so please don't say Arcteryx.....

So far, I'm really leaning heavily towards the Montbell Alpine Light pants.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I've heard good things about the Marmot Cortina Pants. Have you looked at those?

No, I haven't. Just did, though. Look nice, but I'm looking for new HARD shell pants (WP/B). Sorry I wasn't clear. I edited the post title for clarity.

I have used a pair of Cloudveil Koven's for the past two years (stretchy hardshell) with great waterproofing and decent breathability (plus thigh zips to vent in the vehicle on the drive to the climb) I got them for around $140 as I think that model has been discontinued

Rab, Makes some really great pants that are Event so they breath really well. You might look at those.

Agree. Rab Latok Alpine Pant. Rab stuff is generally nice in features, fit, construction and price.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
