How thick is your woody?

Hi all..
I am thinking about building myself a nice garage bouldering wall and all the documentation i've read says to use 3/4 inch plywood. From calling around to a few different stores, they all tell me that 23/32 inch plywood is the same as 3/4 inch and that really, nobody actually makes 3/4 inch plywood..
Did you use this 23/32? Or did you find some 3/4 inch out there when you built yours?

THANKS!
Greg

23/32, or 19mm are the nominal thickness for 3/4" plywood. This is due to the outside veneer being sanded. Make sure you get ACX.

I highly recommend 23/32" Birch. Its softer than most plywood, which may affect the life of the wall, but its a lot easier to work with lighter & easier to drill/screw through), and the finish is silky smooth and nearly white, which makes the gym brighter. I got mine at HD. It was realtively inexpensive (compared to similar sized hardwoods).

Thanks guys...
That 23/32 ACX at HD is the stuff I was looking at getting...
And mono...If mine is even 1/10th as nice as yours looks, I'll be stoked!

While the subject is raised, how do you guys anchor your walls?

It's in a large shop, and the issue is there is not suitable backing. The ceiling is way too high (30 feet) and the walls are just corrugated. I am having trouble coming up wth a base design to make it freestanding.

Wood frame btw.

Yeah I have encountered similar issues and my result was to make them all freestanding.

There is a bunch of info over in this thread: mountainproject.com/v/gener…

But here is a example of my latest free-standing wall:

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
