I tried to think of something I really hated in the gym but I couldn't think of anything. I guess if I truly hated something about it I wouldn't go anymore..... Like theres this gas station that sells killerfat cheap breakfast burritos on my way to work but I fuckin hate the guy that works there in the morning, so I don't go anymore...but is it worth it?? I dont know..

When I was young gyms were a rarity so I had no opinion.

When I was in my aggro 20s I thought gyms were really lame and actively made fun of them. Boy was I core.

Now that I am a married working professional, I think gyms are a great tool and actually a really fun way to spend an evening with friends I may not see otherwise. Beats the hell out of a cheap bottle of wine and reruns of the office anyway.

The things I hate are tape placed below the holds so you can't see your footholds, and when the god damn short bus pulls up with a yuppie middle school's climbing team. Quick - everyone traverse en masse in the already crowded gym!

Yeah, he had a strep infection in his hand. It was disgusting. Strep in open wounds is rare, but nasty when it happens. He ran a fever of 104. It was bad.

Now I always tape, and wash thoroughly after climbing those things.

Why would one choose to go to a place they 'hate?'

Hell yeah! I helped invent the word back in Rifle in the early 90's.

I don't like the fact that gyms are so convenient that if there's a chill in the air, a touch of sticky humidity, or "I really shouldn't climb all day" I go there instead of outside.

In truth, I'm very glad to have a gym because its too damned cold a lot of the year and ooutside climbing is a two hours drive.

Isn't that a staph infection?,, being out on the skin would make it one I believe. I thought Streptococcus tends to be inside where it's moist.

People who think they are amazing at climbing and when you ask them their favorite spot to climb outside they say "well, I've never really climbed outside before.."

Then you have never really climbed. Gyms are for training.

Shit, it must be completely ingrained in you! You just sprayed about inventing the word spray.

I hate not having anough time to get to one from the random spot in Iowa I have ended up.

Hence what started as the kids' playstructure will be my 14' boulder by the end of this summer.

(little varmints can learn to climb instead of reading comic books and telling dirty jokes with their pals, says I)

Maybe you could spray a little more for me, so I know how cool you really are?

I don't really hate anything about climbing indoors. It is just another way to get your climb on. Although not changing routes regularly is annoying. Thats why the BRC rules. They regularly set new routes, not only when comps are happening. Now go climb, inside or out.

I hate that there's not a climbing gym in Durango for me to complain about...

Sorry "duh", but because of your username, I just can't oblige you on this one. Is your real name Gern Blanston or something?

Hey Hank... stop hating, and learn to love. K?
