Downturned shoe resole: Who does a good job?

I'm looking to get my Testarossas re-soled. Unfortunately, I seem to wear through the rubber at the tip of my big toes long before any other part (the rands are okay). Also, these are 40s & I wear 43.5s for street shoes. Who has had their smallish, downturned shoes resoled and been happy with the results? I was thinking of sending them to prodealresoles.com...

I'm curious if anybody thinks the accelerated wear at my big toe tips is suggestive of poor form; this is a definite possibility. These shoes see 2-3 days of gym climbing & 3-4 days of outdoor face climbing per month. Yes, those numbers should be reversed, but that's another topic altogether.

alot of climbing on them. Is this wear on your big toe underneath on the climbing portion of the rubber?If so this Sounds like its normal wear with good footwork. the testies are bomb for precise foot placments and in most cases force you into better footwork to use the shoe for what it is meant for. climbing on your toes is what its about.

This shoe is weird to resole. there is not a cobbler out there that can resole it in the same manner that the factory puts the sole on.
Prodealresoles is good.
Of course there are about 5 recent threads on cobblers so I will not start taht debate again.

i had a pair of testies resoled recently by yosemitebum (evolv's resole branch) and they came back looking better than new and fit the exact same as before i sent them in. pretty cheap and fast too

The difference in teh resole job is they cannot duplicate the concaved indent in the forefoot.

So, good news and bad news. Good: Pro Deal Resoles did a phenomenal job. Not quite as aggressive (the concave part isn't as deep as original), but close enough for me. Very professional work, with the same rubber as from the factory (XSV). Most importantly, the shoes fit just as snugly as they did pre-resole! Not bad for a whopping $25 (including return shipping).

Bad news: Their 2 day turnaround claim is bunk. They had my shoes for a week and a half before they were sent back. Total of just over 2 weeks from the day I sent them out (Priority Mail) to the day they returned back home (also via Priority Mail).

Would I use them again? Absolutely.

Rubber room did a good job on my testarossas the last time i sent them out.. same thing.. got the same sportiva rubber stuck on there and they were pretty much the same as out of the box minus a bit of the indent.

summer tends to be pretty busy for the resole guys.. like yos. bum says it's like 14 days turn around right now. tho if they said it was still 2 days then that sucks it took so long.. but at least they did a good job in that time.

Looks like they finally updated their home page. It now says 5-9 day turnaround.

I dropped a pair off at rock and resole in Boulder on Monday afternoon, came home from work on Wednesday and they were sitting on my door step! $49 including postage. Got 5.10 rubber on a pair of La sportiva Katanas. Excellent job and super fast turn around. Highly recommended.

I now have to recommend against using Pro Deal Resoles. Benet's done a fine job resoling 2 pairs of Testarossa's, but his 2-3 week turnaround time is about as realistic Chris Farley climbing 5.12 in 2010. My pairs took 4 and 5 weeks (counting from when they were received), respectively. If and when your email inquiry after 3-4 weeks is acknowledged, you're likely to be told "your shoes were just started today and will go out tomorrow", but they won't be sent out for another 4-5 days.

Pro Deal Resoles brief-
The good: $32, fine work.
The bad: extremely slow
The ugly: poor communication, terrible service.

Fly'n Brian's Resoles in Vegas does an amazing job with my Testarossas, and all of my shoes for that matter. Decent turn around time, good price, and super quality work. Brian does every resole, so you can be assured that the quality is always high.
