What is an intermediate belay?

Hi there,
I'm pretty new to the sport.
I was looking at the Do Chi Chi route when doing a research for a possible trip to JT in January and came across the term "intermediate belay".

Anybody cares to enlighten me to what it is?

Thanks.

That's when you only need a belayer that is decent, but not great...

Sorry I just couldn't resist!! Can't tempt people like that!! :o)

The intermediate belay is a belay station (i.e., more than one bolt) near the top of the first pitch of Dos Chi Chis. It is the end of the first pitch of Yasmine Bleeth.

You will not use this belay if you are climbing Dos Chi Chis. Instead you will keep climbing past a few more bolts to a slightly higher belay.

PRRose: Thanks for the explanation. Cheers...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
