Has anybody every tried the DIY 5.10 resole kits or the stealth paint? I don't have time to send my favorite shoes out before a trip...

I did it once, as long as you don’t have to repair the rand it’s not too bad but the rand is a bitch. I wouldn’t use the precut (if they still make it), the sheet is much easier to customize. I used that cedar foot shaped thing that people put in there dress shoes and clamped it to a sand bag to keep tension on the sole while gluing. After gluing I used a flat disk 36 grit sander on an angle grinder to cut the edges but be really careful it’s easy to take off too much.

I would also like to say I would never do it again. I’ve made some of my own gear and I’m always fixing or modifying everything but I didn’t care for resoling, just not for me.

Rock and Resole, I live in Iowa and it took less than a week to have them back in my hands. They are better than the day I bought them.

Been there, done that. First time was ugly. By the 3rd time it was OK but just barely. So now only my beater shoes get the DIY treatment; everything else goes to the pros.

After gluing, park your car on them (without anything in them obviously). It guarantees that the edges stay put.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
