I did it once, as long as you dont have to repair the rand its not too bad but the rand is a bitch. I wouldnt use the precut (if they still make it), the sheet is much easier to customize. I used that cedar foot shaped thing that people put in there dress shoes and clamped it to a sand bag to keep tension on the sole while gluing. After gluing I used a flat disk 36 grit sander on an angle grinder to cut the edges but be really careful its easy to take off too much.
I would also like to say I would never do it again. Ive made some of my own gear and Im always fixing or modifying everything but I didnt care for resoling, just not for me.
Been there, done that. First time was ugly. By the 3rd time it was OK but just barely. So now only my beater shoes get the DIY treatment; everything else goes to the pros.

After gluing, park your car on them (without anything in them obviously). It guarantees that the edges stay put.
